Meetings

Our meetings are held every third Thursday of the month from March until November and we welcome all gardeners new and experienced to learn, advise and pass on information.

Meetings are held at various locations in our community and are open to everyone. Generally we will invite a speaker to come and talk to us on their field of expertise in the horticultural environment. We also invite some of our members to give a short talk on a plant or gardening topic relevant to the time of year. After the meeting there is a social time to catch up with fellow members.

December, January and February our meetings are held via zoom, again we invite a speaker to give a presentation on a horticultural subject.

Although the meetings are open to everyone we encourage signing up to receive many membership benefits.

In previous years our society has held a number of events including flower shows, garden tours, photo competitions, potluck suppers, field trips and children's flower show.

Each May we hold our annual plant sale, which is open to the public, on Main Street Vankleek Hill in which members generously donate seedlings, cuttings, plants, old horticultural books and anything connected with gardening to raise funds for our society. We call upon our members time to volunteer at the sale which is busy but fun for everyone. It's a big event in our community and great opportunity for everyone to find a bargain.

The field trips that have been arranged by our society over the years have been both fun and educational, supporting local enterprises where we can but also including events and places of interest in Ottawa and the surrounding area or into Quebec.

You will always receive a warm welcome so come along to our next meeting, meet new people who love horticulture and want to pass on their knowledge to others.
